Most applicable BIA system need to be calibrated by other methods, among those, MRI scanning is more accurate than DXA, CT and ultrosonic. MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) can scan whole body and regarded as “Golden Standard”. 

Our research team use whole body scan to get continuous image of every cross section (interval 1 cm) of human body. By using specific software, we identify each composition and calculate its area. Then we calculate the volume of each composition and work out the final result with our patented equation.
Our analyzer is with high correlation with DXA result as well.

Tips for Accurate Measurement:

 

  • Take off your socket when testing. For BIA test, the contact to the electrode is necessary. Even electric current can pass through thin textile, we strongly recommend you to stand on the scale platform with bear feet to get the accurate result.
  • Remove any metal and electronic devices. Metal material (such as jewelry, keys and watch) and electronic devices such as mobile phone, may lead to wrong impedance.
  • Doing measurement under the same condition such as time, temperature, and posture.
  • Physical activity and sports exercise can change body composition temporarily. So please do the measurement before physical activity and sports exercise.
  • If the subject have already ate some food, please ensure that the subject have enough time to digest. So please do the measurement 2 hours before or after meals.
  • Perspiration can change body composition temporarily. So please don’t take a bath before measurement.
  • If the surrounding temperature is too high or too low, the body’s stress response can change body composition temporarily. So please do the measurement under normal temperature.
  • Body waste may be mistaken for fat, and urine may be mistaken for muscle. Large mass of body waste may affect the reliability of measurement. If possible, please do the measurement after excretion.
  • The best time to measure body composition is before breakfast in the morning.
